OUR HISTORY
Our Private Estate offer our guests the unique experience of a complete immersion in the Italian and Tuscan life-style.
Some major renovations have brought the Estate to its former splendour, allowing our guests to experience the way of living in a historical Florentine home as in the by-gone era. In fact, the Property is still decorated as in the past, with antique furniture and paintings representing the Family history.
The owners family goes back to an old aristocratic italian family, dating back to before the year thousand. A branch of the family, boasts also the presence of a very renowned italian renaissance painter Sofonisba Anguissola, one of the first recognized and accepted female figure painters.
The Estate is located on the old Via Chiantigiana – the ancient road that connected Florence to the Chianti –in the area called “Paradiso degli Alberti”(“Heaven of the Alberti”).
The Alberti family lived in this area and it is said that Leon Battista Alberti – an important 15th century architect – used to rest during his hunting trips in the Casino di Caccia, our Villa Antica. With its ancient frescoes, this is the oldest part of the Estate and it appears to date back to the 1400s.
Over the centuries, various areas of the Main Villa have been added until arriving at the current structure completed in 1800. The Villa overlooks an Italian Maze garden, dating back to the early 1900s.
Harmony and rigor represent the distinctive combination of an Italian garden and give it an extremely elegant appearance.
